Wonderful experience purchasing Creative Roar

I purchased the Creative Roar yesterday.. One of my best buys during these kind of IT Shows.. Wonderful experience..

First, I buay paiseh asked a promoter for $20 voucher and he gave me one.! No need to go line up for jackpot(queue was damn long).. Thumbs up for promoter! Yah, some of them not quite knowledgeable.. But when you buy IT stuff, try do your research first.. Dun rely on them that much..

Next at the cashier while paying, this sweet cashier asked if I will be carrying the Roar around.. (I bought the $199 w "free" Creative Woof 2 and no carrying case) Then she went off and gave me the carrying case too.. Pleasantly surprised..

Then while heading off, I saw that I could get free spins in the jackpot machine.. Went to the machine and there was this friendly uncle.. He told me I could get 2 free spins & could cut the queue! Got both the $20 and $50 vouchers in spin.. :S The ladies mending the jackpot gave an additional earphone(EP-430) and some black pouch.. More freebies..

Then finally the nice uncle came up to me again and told me to head over the stage to redeem yet another "high end" earphones.. Showed my receipt and the promoter gave me a EP-600 earphone.!

Felt so good for the wonderful experience.. Passed my vouchers to my friend who was thinking of purchasing the Roar.. Sharing is caring.. Btw the plastic bag they gave is not the NTUC/Sheng Shiong type lah.. Got standard one.. And your Roar is not that heavy also.. :S

Anyways, support our local products! Now, time to play with my new toys.. :D

First step is to spread them out wide.. Admire & laugh if you like.. Then start putting it in.. Add some action to it.. Take it out if you must.. Remember to follow rhythm & sequence.. And lastly, make sure you end it with a bang.!

Budget Review

I did a budget review yesterday. Results not good. In deficit after savings. Haiizz. How to start off my investing liddat. Need to tighten the belt now. And best-source for my purchases.

Anyways, back to the the budgeting. Next step is to list out all your expenses. All your monthly bills, transport, makan, subscriptions, insurance & $$$ for your love ones; all the monthly expenses. For those with monthly loans for housing after cpf deduction, do include them. If you don't have an exact amount, have a habit to keep track of your expenses. I use a mobile app for this. U can use an excel sheet which you must key in at the end of the day or a small notebook which you can write down. Personally, a mobile app is the easiest. Since February, I have been keeping track of all my expenses. :D Now just need to maintain it.

That's all for expenses. This I think this is the tough part. The rest onwards should be easy.

Income

Ok, how did i start this. Of course first, if possible, attend any financial courses, talks and seminars your workplace sent you. Its a good start. Not to forget CPF talks and seminars too. Reading books helps too. I usually get books from local authors so I can relate to the stories or scenarios. Our excellent public libraries are world class. Do visit them and of course clear any debts u have with them. : ) The internet is also a great source of info. Blogs, wiki, even FB posts are sometimes quite informative.

The first part of FP was budgetting. The start of budgeting was quite an eye opener for me. I get to see all my expenses, my debts and liabilities and of course, my savings. Yes, I do save at that time tho not regularly. To start, you need to do the following:

- Find out your income
List down your monthly income. Your take home pay. You may want to include any sideline business or recurring income you might have. For bonuses, you can put it in too but for my case, I normally shove a nice round number to my savings account. The rest I will keep for spending. Like the new Galaxy S3 if have been eyeing all year long. :D

Financial Planning

Ok, after the 2 days course, I am gonna commit myself to the financial planning(FP) steps. Enuf wife the delays, the procrastination. Its time for action. Execution time. Do it. Do it.

I have done the first few parts of the plan but after yesterday's course, I need to readjust some. The thing about FP is that u need to relook into it say once every year or whenever u have new commitment or priorities. Half a day's work or less.

In addition, as part of FP , I'm gonna have a new hobby. That is to make money enuf for my retirement. Yup, make ka-ching as a hobby. Invest, save, open/buy business, take action. Why, u say.. Coz of the picture. That's my financial goal to retire.

Love Letter to Epson

Hi,


I sent my Epson printer for servicing(pickup) since 1/6/2011 and was told that the repair is not completed. How long does it take to repair a boot up error status? I have worked at a printer testing company before and all you need is to flash a new firmware to the printer.


Two weeks is too long for a printer repair. Is that an acceptable service level of a repair duration? Might as well do a 1 to 1 exchange for your customers rather than a repair.


Also please get your repair tracking system in good shape. Twice i called in different days, twice I was told that your system is having problems. Even best, the first time I called, your CSO promised to call me back (since the system was down) but did not fulfill his promise! My mistake was not asking for that CSO's name. Today, same thing happened; system down.
I need to use my printer and I need it urgently. I have been an Epson supporter for many years now and this episode has given me doubts about Epson printer. This unit is less than 1 year old, is unusable and takes more than 2 weeks to solve. 


Hence I request for my printer to be fixed immediately and Epson to update me when I can get by unit back. I will also send this feedback form to the service repair status form.

Me: (Looks over at the laptop, and realising that its a Gateway laptop) Oh, I don't trust that brand..
LS: But Sir, its an i5 processor, latest one at the same price. Value for money.
Me: Its okay. Im just interested in this Sony laptop. I dont trust Gateway brand.
LS: Dont trust eh. But you Sony laptop is also made in China.(sarcastically)
Me: (irritated) Everything now also made in China lah..
LS: (gives the sian look and kept quiet)
